Our journey began during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic. Like many others navigating dating during uncertain times, we both downloaded Bumble—and in April 2021, we matched. With restrictions still in place, our first dates were virtual: we’d choose a movie or show to watch simultaneously while messaging back and forth. Surprisingly, those virtual dates helped us feel close even from afar.

We instantly bonded over our shared taste in music, similar hobbies, and a mutual curiosity about one another. It didn’t take long before we were texting constantly. Our first in-person date was on April 25th, 2021, at a cozy Italian restaurant in Sacramento. Sean arrived with a thoughtfully curated gift bag for Kayla—an early sign of our shared love language: giving and receiving meaningful gifts. Once we sat down and removed our masks, the conversation flowed effortlessly. We laughed, connected deeply, and by the end of the night, had already planned our second date.

As the weeks turned into months, we became inseparable. Whether it was a simple errand or a weekend plan, we started doing everything together. We discovered a love for cooking and traveling, which quickly became central to our relationship. From visiting family in Southern California and Colorado to relaxing in Hawaii and taking business trips closer to home, we made lasting memories. But Oregon always felt like our special place.

We also learned we make a great team—especially in the kitchen. Cooking together became one of our favorite ways to unwind and connect. We experiment with new recipes, share our signature dishes, and love hosting friends and family for dinner parties and events.

After nearly four wonderful years together, Sean proposed during a romantic evening at the iconic Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs on January 17th, 2025.

Today, we share a home in Roseville, CA, with Kayla’s sister Shay, her son Jax, and our three cats: Chloe, Casper, and Cinderelli (aka Relli). We’re so excited about what the future holds and absolutely thrilled to celebrate our wedding with the people we love most. Thank you for being part of this new chapter in our lives.
